  1. Terminology

Nobody here in Europe would relate to the term African American for Black people. Here people would usually be referred to as either Black or Afro-Carribean as they are usually from the West Indies or Africa.

Neo Nazi Offensive? I suppose if you were one maybe, the rest of us understand.

  2. Apologies to our European friends. We’ll try to curb the regional terms as best we can, but remember that the show IS recorded in North America.

And I agree with you about the Neo Nazi thing. I do. But what I was worried about was applying that label to a group of people that are NOT Neo Nazi’s. I was worried that we were implying that the country as a whole was like that. And that’s not cool, and definitely not accurate.

  3. My point was that the term was inaccurate as a Black person living in Poland would have absolutely no connection with the American part of Afro-American. Black would get around the issue. I realize the whole the matter of race is a veritable minefield as Microsoft discovered last week. My wife is Chinese and our youngest at the age of 2 thought being mixed race meant that her top half was Caucasian and her bottom half was Chinese!

Anyhow I have spent a fair few years on both sides of the pond and am a dual British/Canadian citizen and it’s good to hear the Canadians get a role in the Smackdown.

BTW you have quite a few listeners over hear in Europe and we see the Smackdown referred to in our forums.
