CTO of Avid to now work for Apple

Avid_LogoThis news is not the mainstream kind of article but is an important one if you are in the creative fields of audio or video editing. Besides, there has GOT to be something else out there to talk about other than Steve Jobs liver, iPhone 3GS, or Windows 7 right?

Granted, this news comes from a forum on Gearsluts with no offiial anouncement yet but this is something to keep your eyes on. According to the forum,
David Lebolt, senior vice-president and chief technology officer of Avid Technology, Inc and ex-general manager of Digidesign left the company last Friday to apparently work for Apple. It is not known yet what position at Apple he will taking nor is it known what his duties will be.

What it does bring up are many questions about the future of everyday tools from Avid such as Media Composer, Pro-Tools, etc. David has been a key factor in the roll out and adoption of pro tools 8, the latest reworking of the popular audio editing software.

And what does this mean for the pro apps from Apple? Is this going to mean tighter integration of pro tools and composer sessions with Logic and Final Cut?

This could be big. Stay tuned.
